Beckham, wife thank mums with cars

BeckhamsDavid and Victoria Beckham have bought their mothers a £50,000 sports car each to thank them for babysitting their four children so they can balance their professional and personal lives.
The superstar couple have shown their gratitude for Jackie Adams and Sandra Beckham for looking after their children – daughter Harper, two, and sons Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 11, and eight-year-old Cruz – so they didn’t have to get a nanny. A source told the Sunday People newspaper: ‘’David and Victoria aren’t flash with money because they know the value of it, but they wanted to show their enormous gratitude for the help their mums have been since they returned to England.
‘’Managing their careers and four children is not easy at all, so they feel so lucky that their parents have stepped in to ease the load.’’
Jackie and Sandra are said to be ‘’really touched’’ by the gift – a top of the range Audi each – and were pleased to help the Beckhams so they can still be ‘’hands-on’’ with their children. The insider added, ‘’David and Victoria have never been keen on getting nannies.
They have always been hands-on with the kids, but sometimes everyone needs a bit of help from their own parents. ‘’Jackie and Sandra are really touched with their presents. They couldn’t thank them enough. ‘’They are over the moon that David and Victoria are back in the UK and both women love seeing more of their grandchildren.’’

Nigeria’s national flag: Object of ignorance, neglect

Nigeria’s national flagDid you know that the national flag should not be left outside beyond 6pm? The National flag should be hoisted and flown ceremoniously and briskly at 6am and lowered slowly in the same manner by 6pm everyday.
Nigeria’s flag was first officially hoisted at 12am on October 1, 1960. This fact is clearly stated on Nigeria’s website. However, Saturday PUNCH discovered that many young and old Nigerians were totally ignorant of it, while others saw no need for it.
Military and para-military outfits observe this rule. As a routine, every morning and evening, men are detailed to perform the function in a silent drill, aided by coded sounds from a beagle.
Mr. Peter Olorunsheyi, who served in the Nigerian Army for 19 years, relived memories of this daily routine.
He said, “We hoist the flag and lower it seven days a week. It is a standard practice in the military. The soldiers detailed to lower the national and unit flags do so simultaneously as the beagle blower provides a coded guide. The flag is folded and kept respectfully till the next day.

Solidstaromotena crooner, Joshua Iniyezo, popularly known as Solidstar, tells Ademola Olonilua about his career and relationship with actress, Tonto Dikeh
Your album is coming out and the public expectation is way higher than your last album. What do you have to offer your fans?
I know there is a lot of expectation of me career-wise. I know I will live up to the expectation because I just released two songs online and the reviews are great. They are really doing well though we just released them online. The two songs are off the album. We just want everybody to go and get the album when it is out because there is going to be different things from Solidstar. People should expect different things from me because they know me as this R ‘n’B artiste but I changed their perception when I released, Omotena and Skibo. I want my fans to know that apart from this afro-pop, I still do reggae, dancehall and the likes. It is more like a very versatile album. I just want to give everybody a different feel and various options to choose from.
This year has been good for you. It has been reported that you acquired multi-million naira properties this year alone. What did you do differently?
Last year, I performed a lot but most of them were free shows. I was only paid for a few. This year I made a lot of money, did a lot of things for a change. I told my team that we had to sit up. We had spent a lot on projects and we had to think of ways to get the money back. We had a meeting and decided that we all had to put in our best in whatever project we were doing. We thank God it worked out well. Now I am proud of not just my label, but of myself also.

The 13 Most Insidious, Pervasive Lies of the Modern Music Industry...

It was the future we all wanted so desperately to come true...

Lie #1: Great music will naturally find its audience.

The Lie: The greatest music and artists will eventually connect with their audiences, naturally, thanks to a perfectly-lubricated, social, and borderless internet.
"Our kids are going to watch exactly what they want to watch, not necessarily what’s marketed to them," then Topspin CEO Ian Rogers said as recently as 2010, while constantly underscoring that "quality is hyperefficient."

The Truth: Just like the analog old days, most great music gets left behind and wallows in obscurity if not substantially backed or otherwise supported financially.  In fact, the biggest songs on the planet are often those blasted the loudest on the biggest platforms - and oftentimes, the most money from major labels (ie, Katy Perry, Pitbull, Flo Rida, etc.)
