Odumodu stated this at the presentation of the NIS ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System) standards certificate to Supreme Distilleries Limited, where he was represented by the Director, Administration and Human Capital, Mr. Adebayo Adegun.
He said the giant stride by the SDL in the pursuit of excellence in providing quality foods to its consumers and ensuring that its products were safe for consumption was worthy of commendation and emulation by well meaning business concerns.
“Food and its global security is now a major source of concern to the world leaders. The failure to protect food quality leads to a decline in consumer confidence in the quality of many food products and threatens the vitality of the economy.
“As a consequence, many programmes have been developed by industries, organisations and government agencies to ensure that quality foods are produced and consumed, hence giving consumers value for their hard-earned money,” Odumodu said.
He said the version of QMS standard, NIS ISO 9001:2008 presented to SDL, has shifted emphasis from just conforming to rules and regulations to the establishment of a system that delivers actual performance outputs and provides the platform for continual improvement.
