Alberto Pomini
Actually made a couple of decent saves but his stops often put the ball back into the danger area. Conceded six but was horribly let down by his defence. - 00
Francesco Acerbi
Didn't communicate with the rest of his defence and struggled terribly with the movement of the tricky Inter forward line. Showed a worrying lack of pace. - 00
Marcello Gazzola
Was withdrawn early on as with an injury. - 00
Jonathan Rossini
Needs to learn the offside rule as he constantly stepped out of defence when Inter players were miles onside. Looked horribly out of his depth and was replaced in the second half. - 10
Reto Ziegler
Managed to put in a couple of important blocks to keep the scoreline low but will not be happy with his performance, like the rest of his team-mates. - 00
Raman Chibsah
Looked pretty comfortable in possession but failed to assert his authority on proceedings. Was forced to come off just before the break due to injury. - 00
Francesco Magnanelli
Was caught in possession far too many times in dangerous areas in front of goal, which lead to his booking when he hauled down Cambiasso. - 00
Simone Missiroli
Booked early on the first half for diving which would sum up his afternoon. Struggled to find passes in the final third and his decision-making was questionable. - 00
Jasmin Kurtić
Actually managed to show a bit of class on the ball at times and put in a couple of decent crosses into the box, but just failed to pose a real danger. - 00
Ezequiel Schelotto
Showed an enthusiasm that was sorely devoid among the rest of his team-mates. Went on a few powerful runs but he wasn't helped by his colleagues. - 00
Antonio Floro Flores
Looked the most likely Sassuolo player to find the net, but this was only through a few speculative efforts at goal. Didn't really look up for the match as his movement was rather lazy.

Raffaele Pucino Flop of the Match
Had a torrid affair after his introduction and sent the ball over his own keeper with a daft header to score an own goal. Missed runs in behind him time and time again. - 00
Paolo Bianco
Slotted in at centre half but didn't fair much better than his predecessors. - 00
Simone Zaza
Added some fight in the final third and was always showing for the ball.
- 21
Samir Handanoviç
Didn't have the most taxing of games but when called into action he dealt with any danger with minimal fuss. Calm and assured. - 20
Jonathan
Was up and down the right-hand side all day long and looked as if he had plenty left in the tank when he came off late on. Always looking to break forward on the overlap. - 20
Juan Jesus
Was anonymous throughout as he wasn't involved in any drama at the back. Didn't really have much to do at all. - 30
Hugo Armando Campagnaro
Burst out of defence often which acted as the catalyst for a number of attacks. Looked very comfortable in possession and showed some ambition going forward. - 30
Andrea Ranocchia
Didn't allow Floro Flores any time or space whatsoever and dominated the on-loan Genoa man for the majority of the match. Read the play excellently. - 40
Yuto Nagatomo
Displayed electric pace down the left-hand side and was always available as outlet on the wing. Put teasing crosses into the box throughout the match which posed a real threat to the hosts. - 30
Fredy Guarín
Sassuolo simply couldn't handle the Colombian extremely powerful runs through the middle of the park, which created many opportunities for Inter. Made some superb late runs into the box and set up Milito's second. - 30
Esteban Matias Cambiasso
Won't play many easier matches as he dictated the play at will for the entire 90 minutes. Pulled the strings from midfield and capped off his performance with a cracking finish from the edge of the box. - 30
Saphir Taider
Slotted in behind Palacio whenever Alvarez went deeper searching for the ball and flourished in this position. Put huge pressure on Pucino which lead to the own goal. - 31
Ricardo Gabriel Álvarez
Is beginning to look like the player his abilities promised. Started off behind the striker but was always coming deeper searching for possession in an attempt to affect the play. Picked out incisive passes and grabbed a close range goal. - 30
Rodrigo Palacio
Was always showing for the ball inside the box and excellently introduced his team-mates into the match in the final third. Got the ball rolling for Inter with the opening goal when he slid in from a few yards out.
Substitutions

Wallace
Came on midway through the second half and took up the mantle from Jonathan with some powerful runs down the right. - 30
Mateo Kovačić
Oozed class when in possession and looks to have a trick or two in his locker. - 40
Diego Alberto Milito Top of the Match
Made his long awaited return from injury and immediately looked like his old self. Grabbed two predatory goals and was always buzzing around the penalty area. The perfect comeback.
